"Doctor, I Looked My Best Right After the Procedure" — Is That Actually True?
One of the most common misconceptions in Juvelook reviews: that "full" feeling right after the procedure tells a very different story 2–3 weeks later. Your real results only show up after the swelling goes down.

"Doctor, I looked my best
right after the procedure"
— Is that actually true?
Last Wednesday, a patient in her early 30s
came into my clinic.
"I had Juvelook done at another clinic two months ago,
and honestly, it looked great right after.
But now it doesn't seem as good as it was back then.
Has the effect worn off?"
I hear this question two or three times a week.
And honestly, the answer might surprise you.

Juvelook reviews all look similar, don't they?
But the timing makes all the difference.
Juvelook is a Collagen booster
made with PDLLA (poly-D,L-lactic acid).
Rather than filling volume directly like a Filler,
it works by stimulating Collagen production in the Dermis,
gradually building up from within.
Unlike Sculptra (PLLA),
Juvelook breaks down a bit faster
and contains HA (hyaluronic acid),
which creates an immediate volumizing effect right after the procedure.
And this is exactly what causes
the most confusion when reading reviews.

When a Juvelook review says "the volume looks great" —
is that actually your volume?
Key Insight from
Dr. Wi Young-jin
Reviews that rave about volume right after Juvelook
are very likely describing Swelling, not results.
After the Swelling subsides at 2–3 weeks,
that's when you can say, "this is my actual volume" —
and that's when your real satisfaction becomes clear.
You've probably heard that the more Juvelook sessions you get,
the more the effects accumulate — so more is always better.
But here's something important to understand.
Reviews written in the first 1–2 weeks after the procedure
and reviews written a month later are telling completely different stories.
Right after a Juvelook procedure, what you're seeing is a combination of
the volume from the injected solution itself
and Swelling from the micro-stimulation of the needles.
Typically 0.3–0.5cc is injected per session,
and that volume stays in place for about a week.
So when you look in the mirror the next day and think,
"Wow, it's really filled in" — that reaction makes total sense.
The issue comes around weeks 2–3, when the Swelling starts to go down.
Many patients feel like
"the effect has disappeared,"
but what's actually gone is the Swelling — not the results.
The real Collagen starts forming afterward,
typically from weeks 6–8 onward.
That might come as a surprise, so let me share a case.
Last month, a 29-year-old patient came to see me.
She'd had Juvelook done at another clinic
and said it "didn't really do much," so she was looking into other options.
It had been exactly three weeks since her procedure.
I was honest with her:
"Right now is actually the point where results look the least noticeable.
Wait another four weeks, and if you're still not satisfied,
we can talk about what to do next."
She came back at week 7,
and said, "Ah — this is what you were talking about."
No additional procedure was needed at all.
On the other hand, around the same time, I also saw a 35-year-old patient.
She had already had one session two months prior
and wanted more, asking to add another round.
But when I assessed her, her face had already filled in
quite sufficiently from her baseline.
Adding more at that point carried a real risk
of looking unnatural,
so I sent her home without any additional procedure that day.
I didn't recommend anything extra.
A month later, she sent me a message saying,
"Looking back, I'm really glad I didn't do more."
Dr. Wi Young-jin's Key Takeaway
When reading Juvelook reviews,
treat "immediately satisfied" reviews
with about 50% skepticism.
Real judgment should come at 3–4 weeks after Swelling subsides,
and at 6–8 weeks
when Collagen has had time to develop.
Getting additional procedures before that point because you think it's not working
is a very common path to overdoing it.

How to Read Juvelook Reviews
for Your Own Situation
Timeframe | What's Actually Happening | How to Interpret Reviews |
Right after – Week 1 | Injected solution + Swelling | About 80% of "looks great" reviews are describing the Swelling effect |
Weeks 2–3 | Swelling subsiding, before Collagen forms | "No effect / it's gone" is a common misconception at this stage |
Weeks 6–8 | Collagen production begins in earnest | The golden window for evaluating your true results |
Months 3–6 | Peak volume + maintenance phase | The final checkpoint for deciding on additional sessions |
One more thing I want to be upfront about:
Juvelook isn't a universally ideal procedure for everyone.
Patients with slower Collagen response —
typically those in their late 50s and older,
or those with significant smoking habits or chronic sleep deprivation —
may see minimal change even at weeks 6–8.
That said, patients in their 30s to mid-40s tend to respond well,
making it a worthwhile option for that age group.
Juvelook is administered via cannula,
but depending on the treatment area, it can still involve noticeable discomfort.
At our clinic, we apply a thick layer of numbing cream
30 minutes before the procedure,
and for sensitive areas, we add a nerve block anesthesia.
That's exactly why some reviews say "barely felt a thing"
while others say "it hurt more than I expected" —
the anesthesia protocol makes all the difference.
The experience varies completely depending on
what anesthesia options were used.
If you're also considering Filler,
it's safest to wait at least 2 weeks after Juvelook before proceeding.
Doing both at the same time causes the Swelling to overlap,
making it much harder to accurately assess your own results.
"Doctor,
This Doesn't Come Up in Reviews"
— Three Questions I Get in the Clinic All the Time
Q1. Some reviews say
"one session was enough" —
would one session be sufficient for me too?
A. In my experience, the patients who see full results from a single session
are typically in their early-to-mid 30s
with minimal volume loss to begin with.
Most patients benefit from 2–3 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart.
When reading reviews about number of sessions,
try to filter for people in a similar age range to yours.
Q2. Wouldn't getting more in one session
speed up the results?
It also seems like it might be more cost-effective.
A. Loading up more in a single session doesn't proportionally increase the Collagen response.
In fact, it raises the risk of nodule formation.
Spreading it across 2–3 sessions actually produces better results
with the same total volume, and allows you to track your progress along the way.
Q3. I've seen reviews mentioning nodules —
is that a common side effect?
A. To be straightforward with you — it's not common,
but it's not zero either.
It typically occurs when the product is injected too superficially
or when too much is concentrated in one area.
Consistently massaging the treated area for about a week after the procedure
is one of the most effective ways to prevent this.
Please don't let one or two reviews about this scare you off before you've even started.
If there's one thing to take away from today —
when reading Juvelook reviews,
always check when the review was written.
A review from the day after the procedure
and a review from 8 weeks later are telling completely different stories.
In my next post,
I'll walk through the specific signs to look for between weeks 6–8 after Juvelook to know whether the results are actually working for you.
