CureJet vs. Potenza: Why the Downtime Is Longer — and What to Expect
Why CureJet Has a Longer Downtime Than Potenza, and What Recovery Actually Looks Like

CureJet vs. Potenza: Why the Downtime Is Longer — and What to Expect
As the seasons change,
I've been seeing a noticeable increase
in patients coming in for Pores consultations.
"I'm interested in CureJet,
but how long is the Downtime?
I'm also considering Potenza" —
that's something I hear all the time.
Today, I'd like to walk you through the answer step by step.
Where CureJet and Potenza Diverge
CureJet is a procedure that uses micro-needles
to directly inject Juvelook (poly-L-lactic acid)
into the skin.
Unlike Potenza, CureJet doesn't rely on
Radiofrequency (RF) energy —
the real driver here is the drug delivery itself.
If Potenza works by "stimulating Collagen with heat,"
CureJet works by "implanting active ingredients directly."
That fundamental difference
shows up clearly in the Downtime.
Why CureJet Has a Longer Downtime Than Potenza
Key Takeaway
Because of how Juvelook is delivered, CureJet involves a longer Downtime than Potenza — but the Pores improvement it delivers is notably more pronounced.
CureJet involves a longer Downtime than Potenza,
but the improvement in Pores is more visible.
I still remember a patient in her early 30s
who came in last month.
She had undergone four sessions of Potenza elsewhere
but felt her Pores hadn't shrunk as much as she'd hoped,
so she came to see us.
To be honest,
Potenza is a great device.
But for cases like hers — where the pore walls themselves
have become stretched and dilated —
thermal stimulation alone has its limits.
After just two CureJet sessions,
she told me her Pores
had noticeably tightened.
But there's one important thing to understand here.
The Juvelook used in CureJet is injected
at a depth of approximately 0.3–0.5 mm,
where it gradually breaks down within the skin
and stimulates Collagen production.
As a result, right after the procedure,
the skin may develop small, millet-like bumps
along with mild redness.
With Potenza, flushing typically subsides within the same day or two days.
With CureJet, a subtle bumpy texture can linger
for an average of 3–5 days,
and in some cases up to a week,
depending on individual skin response.
The longer Downtime with CureJet isn't a drawback —
it's more of a signal that
"the Juvelook has been delivered properly and is doing its job."
If a faster recovery is your priority, Potenza may be the better fit.
If your goal is a clear, visible improvement in Pores,
then CureJet is the right choice.
CureJet Downtime: What I Recommend Based on Your Skin Type
In my clinic, I've observed that recovery patterns
vary quite a bit from person to person.
Most patients fall into one of two categories,
with a third pattern occasionally mixed in.
One thing I always make sure to mention:
the bumpy texture may look more prominent
on the evening of the procedure.
It's not necessarily a cause for concern —
by the next morning, about 90%
of that reaction tends to calm down.
Three Things to Check Before Your CureJet Session
Q1. Can I wear makeup right after CureJet?
A. I'd recommend avoiding it on the day of the procedure.
The micro-injection channels are still closing,
and foundation pigments
can temporarily seep in during that window.
From the next day onward, something light —
Sunscreen or a cushion compact — is generally fine.
Q2. How many sessions are needed to see results?
A. I typically recommend 3–4 sessions
as a standard course.
By the second session, patients can usually see
their Pores beginning to tighten in the mirror,
and about three months after the fourth session
is when Collagen production tends to peak.
An interval of 4–6 weeks between sessions is ideal.
Q3. What if the bumpy texture lingers for a long time?
A. In rare cases, some patients experience
a bumpy texture that persists beyond one week.
This typically means the individual's skin
breaks down Juvelook more slowly —
but in most cases, it resolves within two weeks.
If it continues beyond that,
or if you notice any pigmentation changes,
please come in for a follow-up evaluation.
Early action is always better than waiting.
