Still Bruised 3 Days After Rejuran — How Many Out of 47 Patients Actually Experience This?
Bruising, Swelling & Nodules After Rejuran: A Dermatologist's Honest Breakdown of Real Occurrence Rates and What To Do

Still Bruised 3 Days After Rejuran — How Many Out of 47 Patients Actually Experience This?
Let me get straight to the point.
When it comes to side effects from Rejuran,
the cause is far more likely to be the injection technique
than your individual skin type or constitution.
Let me walk you through exactly why that is.
Rejuran Side Effects — What's a Normal Reaction and What Isn't?
Rejuran is a procedure that delivers
PDRN (Polynucleotide) — an active ingredient extracted from salmon DNA —
directly into the Dermis.
Unlike Botox or Filler, Rejuran isn't about
"filling and smoothing" the skin.
It's closer to "regenerating the tissue from within."
That's why the post-procedure response is different, too.
Rather than seeing immediate results like you might with Filler,
it's more common to notice needle marks, Bruising, and Swelling that linger for a few days.
The Real Reason Bruising and Nodules Develop After Rejuran
Key Takeaway
How common are Bruising, Swelling, and nodules after Rejuran? An honest answer from a dermatology clinic director.
Last month, I consulted with 47 patients
and followed up on their post-procedure progress.
7 of them developed noticeable Bruising,
and about 3 had nodules — small, bumpy granules you can feel when you press the skin —
that persisted for over a week.
Honestly, this ratio can vary quite a bit
depending on who's performing the procedure.
Here's why.
Rejuran needs to be deposited into the mid-Dermis —
roughly 1.5 to 2mm below the skin surface.
And there's one critical factor here:
inject too shallow, and it stays as a nodule.
Inject too deep, and you nick a blood vessel and cause Bruising.
A patient in her late 30s came in last week.
She'd already had 3 sessions at another clinic,
and she was upset because the small bumps on her cheeks
hadn't gone away for an entire month.
When I felt the area, I could detect a line of tiny granules
running along the injection path.
This is what happens when the product is applied too superficially, repeatedly.
The PDRN doesn't reach the Dermis —
it pools in the upper layers instead.
In my practice, I typically choose between two approaches.
For the full face, I use a 30G needle,
maintaining a consistent depth throughout.
For thinner-skinned areas like around the eyes and mouth,
I switch to a cannula.
Occasionally, as a third option, for patients with a history of nodules,
I split the dose in half and administer it over two sessions,
spaced two weeks apart.
Bruising and nodules after Rejuran are not a matter of skin type — they come down to injection depth and speed.
If you're prone to nodules around the eye area, be sure to request a cannula instead of a needle. If you Bruise easily, ask your provider to slow down the injection pace.
Who Should Be Extra Cautious About Rejuran Side Effects?
It varies by individual, but here's how I generally categorize it.
That said, this doesn't have to be a dealbreaker.
Bruising and mild Swelling typically subside
within 3 to 5 days for most patients,
and nodules can usually be resolved with warm compress and gentle massage
within 2 to 3 weeks.
However, if a nodule hasn't resolved after a month,
it should not be treated with hyaluronidase.
Instead, it requires either a diluted saline injection
or a micro-steroid injection to break it down —
so please make sure to return to the clinic where you had the procedure done.
Three Things to Check Before Your Procedure
Q1. Can I go back to work the day after Rejuran?
A. Needle marks may be slightly visible for 1 to 2 days.
They're generally coverable with makeup,
but if significant Bruising occurs, it can last up to a week.
If you have an important event coming up,
it's safest to schedule your procedure at least 5 days in advance.
Q2. How many sessions does it take to see results?
A. The standard protocol is typically
3 sessions spaced 3 to 4 weeks apart.
I've seen quite a few patients come in saying
they "didn't notice any effect" after one or two sessions elsewhere —
and after 2 to 3 more sessions here,
they say their Skin Texture has genuinely changed.
Rejuran requires cumulative sessions
for true dermal remodeling to take place,
so it's difficult to make a fair judgment after just one round.
Q3. I have a nodule — is it okay to leave it alone?
A. You can monitor it for up to 2 to 3 weeks.
Try applying a warm towel twice a day,
5 minutes each time, with a gentle massage.
But if it hasn't resolved after a month,
or if the area becomes red or painful,
please come in to see us right away.
Left untreated, it can harden into fibrosis.
