Don't Believe That Juvelook Skin Booster Is the Same as Volume
Juvelook Skin Booster and Volume both contain PDLLA, but their different results stem from differences in particle size and concentration.

Q. If Juvelook Skin Booster and Volume have the same ingredients, shouldn't their effects be the same?
A. They contain the same PDLLA component, but their particle sizes and concentrations are different. This difference determines the depth and amount of collagen production.
Q. If I want to choose just one, what criteria should I use?
A. Choose Skin Booster for skin texture improvement, or Volume if you're concerned about volume loss or deep wrinkles.
What is Juvelook Skin Booster?
Juvelook Skin Booster is
a procedure that injects PDLLA (Poly-D,L-Lactic Acid)
in micro-particle form into the superficial dermis
to stimulate collagen regeneration.
Unlike Juvelook Volume, which is also PDLLA-based,
Skin Booster has smaller particles and lower concentration,
designed to work close to the skin surface—
this is the key difference.
Same Ingredients, Different Results—The Secret of Particle Size
This is a common misconception,
and many patients ask me,
"Since they're both PDLLA, aren't they essentially the same?"
Honestly,
it's understandable why you'd think that
just looking at the ingredient names.
Both have polylactic acid as their main component,
and they share the same principle of gradually breaking down
in the body while stimulating collagen synthesis.
But here's what's crucial:
'Where' and 'how much' a substance works
isn't determined by the ingredient itself,
but by particle size and concentration.
Juvelook Skin Booster's PDLLA particles
average 2-5μm, which is extremely fine.
This size distributes evenly in the upper dermis,
about 0.5-1mm deep from the skin surface—
the superficial layer.
In contrast, Juvelook Volume
has larger particles and higher concentration.
It's optimized for injection into the deep dermis
or subcutaneous boundary to create actual volume.
This is somewhat like
how even though they're the same Lego blocks,
structures made with small blocks versus
structures made with large blocks
have completely different textures and uses.
PDLLA works the same way.
Small particles spread over a wide area
to evenly refine overall skin texture,
while large particles concentrate in specific areas
to provide structural support.
I usually explain it to patients like this:
"Skin Booster is like an anti-aging essence,
Volume is like a cream.
Essence penetrates and works throughout the skin,
while cream fills specific areas."
In actual clinical practice,
after 3-4 Skin Booster sessions,
we see high satisfaction rates for
pore reduction, fine line improvement, and skin tone enhancement.
Meanwhile, Volume shows excellent results
for cases requiring structural filling
like nasolabial folds, marionette lines,
or temple hollowing.
It's not simply that expensive means better—
the particle size and concentration design
creates these different outcomes.
| Category | Juvelook Skin Booster | Juvelook Volume |
|---|---|---|
| Main Ingredient | PDLLA + HA | PDLLA + HA (high concentration) |
| Particle Size | 2-5μm (micro) | Relatively large particles |
| Injection Depth | Superficial dermis | Deep dermis to subcutaneous |
| Main Indications | Pores, fine lines, skin texture, tone | Volume loss, deep wrinkles, contour |
| Recommended Sessions | 3-4 sessions (3-4 week intervals) | 1-2 sessions (4-6 week intervals) |
| Effect Onset | After 2nd session | Immediately after 1st session + gradual improvement |
| Duration | About 6-12 months | About 12-18 months |
Juvelook Skin Booster and Volume
have the same ingredients but different 'design purposes.'
Choose Skin Booster for skin texture, pores, and tone concerns,
Volume for hollowing and deep wrinkle concerns.
Thinking "they're both Juvelook, so they must be similar"
leads to the most inefficient treatment choices.
Who Should Get What—Real Clinical Criteria
While each case varies,
I usually approach them this way:
Juvelook Skin Booster is right for:
· Patients with enlarged pores and rough skin texture
· Those with fine lines but no significant volume loss
· Patients with dull skin tone and loss of elasticity
· Late 20s to early 30s seeking preventive treatments
Juvelook Volume is right for:
· Patients with deep nasolabial folds or marionette lines
· Those with noticeable hollowing in temples or cheeks
· Patients needing structural reinforcement in forehead or jawline
· Those seeking natural volume instead of filler
But this isn't all positive news.
There's something important I must mention:
Juvelook Skin Booster doesn't provide
significant immediate changes.
New collagen production takes
at least 4-6 weeks.
So quite a few patients get one session
and conclude "it doesn't work."
Based on our data,
patients start noticing changes after the 2nd session,
and satisfaction rates clearly improve
after the 3rd session.
However, if you "want rapid, dramatic changes,"
Volume or other treatment combinations
should be considered first rather than Skin Booster.
Also,
the injecting physician's technique is quite important.
Skin Booster needs to be distributed evenly in superficial layers,
and incorrect depth control can cause
lumping or nodules.
I was initially uncertain about this myself,
but after hundreds of cases,
I realized that a 0.5mm difference in depth
can completely change the results.
Many patients who didn't feel effects
despite multiple sessions elsewhere
were satisfied after 2-3 sessions with us.
In most cases, this wasn't due to product differences
but differences in injection depth and dosage settings.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q1. Can I get Juvelook Skin Booster and Volume together?
A. Yes, it's possible.
Patients who have both volume loss
and want to improve skin texture
sometimes do both procedures simultaneously in different areas.
However, we don't layer both products
in the same area,
but rather divide the layers—
Volume in deep layers, Skin Booster in superficial layers.
Q2. What's the cost, and how many sessions are needed?
A. For Skin Booster,
single session costs vary by clinic
but typically range from $75-150.
The standard is 3-4 sessions at 3-4 week intervals,
followed by maintenance treatments
every 3-6 months.
Volume has higher per-session costs
but requires fewer total sessions.
Q3. How much bruising or swelling occurs after the procedure?
A. Since Skin Booster uses fine needles
for superficial layer injection,
swelling is typically minimal.
However, patients with thin skin may experience
minor bruising for 2-3 days,
and small blister-like papules
at injection sites may be visible
for half a day to a full day.
Makeup is possible from the next day.
