Can I Use Regular Juvelook Instead of Juvelook Eye Under My Eyes?
Juvelook and Juvelook Eye are the same brand but differ in formulation, concentration, and particle size. Here's why you shouldn't use just any product under your eyes.

💡 Essential Information Before Reading
Q. Aren't Juvelook and Juvelook Eye just different volumes?
A. No. The PDLLA concentration, particle size, and viscosity are completely different. Since under-eye skin is only about 0.5mm thick, using regular formulation can cause clumping or uneven results.
Q. I have severe under-eye hollowing. Is Juvelook Eye alone sufficient?
A. It's sufficient for collagen regeneration purposes, but if you've lost significant volume, combining with filler is more realistic.
What is Juvelook Eye?
Juvelook Eye is a
collagen booster injection
based on PDLLA (poly-D,L-lactic acid)
specifically developed for the eye area.
While regular Juvelook is formulated
for overall facial skin regeneration,
Juvelook Eye is specifically designed
with adjusted concentration and particle size
for extremely thin skin areas like under-eyes and eyelids.
Many patients think,
"Since the names are similar, aren't they the same?"
But honestly, these two formulations
are used in completely different tissue layers.
The Real Reason Why 'Eye-Specific Formulations' Exist for Under-Eyes
This is the most important part of this article.
Under-eye skin is the thinnest
area on the face.
It's only about 0.3-0.5mm thick.
Compared to cheek or forehead skin
which is about 1.5-2mm thick,
it's less than one-third the thickness.
Here's what's important:
PDLLA stimulates collagen synthesis
once injected into the skin.
Simply put, it's a type of 'stimulant'
that makes the skin regenerate volume itself.
If these stimulant particles are too large,
they cause no problems in thick skin,
but can clump in thin under-eye areas.
They may show through the skin surface
or create uneven, bumpy texture.
That's why Juvelook Eye was designed this way:
| Category | Juvelook (Regular) | Juvelook Eye |
|---|---|---|
| PDLLA Concentration | Relatively High | Controlled Lower |
| Particle Size | Standard | Micro-particles (Micro-size) |
| Viscosity | High | Low (Enhanced Fluidity) |
| Injection Depth | Mid to Deep Dermis | Superficial to Mid Dermis (Shallow Layer) |
| Main Target Areas | Cheeks, Forehead, Jawline, etc. (Full Face) | Under-eyes, Eyelids, Eye Area Fine Lines |
| Volume | Usually 2-4cc | Small Amount (Eye Area Specific) |
Here's the summary:
Smaller particles distribute
evenly within thin skin.
Lower viscosity prevents clumping
and ensures natural dispersion.
Excessive concentration can
over-stimulate thin tissue,
so it's adjusted to optimal levels.
It's not simply a "reduced volume version,"
but a complete reformulation
designed for the physical limitations
of under-eye skin.
When I explain this in my clinic,
seven out of ten patients say "I had no idea."
Many people misunderstand this –
similar names don't mean the same product.
In fact, there have been occasional reports
of nodules (small lumps) forming
when regular Juvelook was injected under the eyes.
The under-eye area has thin subcutaneous fat
and is close to muscle (orbicularis oculi),
so formulation choice directly affects results.
The tricky thing is,
some people don't experience immediate
major problems with regular formulation
because skin thickness varies between individuals.
But "might be okay" and
"safely designed" are
completely different concepts.
Under-eye skin is the thinnest on the face.
Regular Juvelook's particle size, concentration, and viscosity may not be suitable for this thin skin.
Juvelook Eye isn't a "reduced quantity version" – it's a completely new formulation with particle size, viscosity, and concentration specifically designed for the eye area.
Which Under-Eye Concerns is Juvelook Eye Suitable For?
It varies by case,
but I usually categorize it this way:
1. Under-Eye Fine Lines + Loss of Elasticity
This occurs when collagen decreases
and under-eye skin becomes wrinkled.
Juvelook Eye works best for this.
Since PDLLA induces collagen synthesis in the dermis,
many patients notice improved skin texture
after 2-3 sessions.
2. Under-Eye Dark Circles (Pigmentation Type)
If melanin deposits cause dark circles,
honestly, Juvelook Eye alone has limitations.
This requires pigmentation treatment first.
However, for 'vascular type' dark circles
where blood vessels show through thin skin,
you can expect reduced transparency
as collagen fills in.
3. Under-Eye Volume Loss (Tear Trough)
This is a somewhat ambiguous area.
For mild hollowing, Juvelook Eye can
naturally restore volume
as collagen builds up.
But for deeply sunken areas,
combining with hyaluronic acid filler is more realistic.
Juvelook Eye uses a 'gradual filling' mechanism,
not immediate volume replacement.
There's something important I must mention:
Juvelook Eye isn't perfect either.
Results take time to appear.
Since it's a collagen-building process,
you need to wait at least 2-4 weeks to see changes,
and we usually recommend 2-3 sessions.
Also, the under-eye area may appear
slightly swollen or bruise immediately after treatment.
The eye area is rich in blood vessels,
so bruising risk is never zero, no matter how careful we are.
It usually resolves in 3-5 days,
but it's best to avoid scheduling before important events.
Despite these drawbacks,
for under-eye fine lines and elasticity improvement,
it's quite a reasonable choice
among currently available non-surgical options.
Patients who weren't satisfied
even after 10 under-eye laser sessions elsewhere
often tell me "this seems right"
after 2-3 Juvelook Eye sessions.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q1. Can I apply makeup immediately after Juvelook Eye?
A. It's best not to apply cosmetics
directly to injection sites on the day of treatment.
Since micro injection marks remain,
there's infection risk.
Light makeup is possible from the next day.
Q2. What's the cost, and how many sessions do I need?
A. Usually 100,000-200,000 KRW per session,
with 2-3 sessions as one set.
Intervals are about 3-4 weeks.
Maintenance duration varies greatly by individual,
but generated collagen typically lasts
6 months to 1 year.
Many patients get touch-ups
every 6 months for maintenance.
Q3. Are there any side effects or precautions?
A. The most common are bruising and swelling.
Most resolve within 3-5 days.
Rarely, nodules (small lumps) may be felt,
which occurs when injection amount is excessive
or the layer is too shallow –
practitioner experience is crucial.
Since the under-eye area has complex anatomy,
it's important to receive treatment
from medical professionals with sufficient
anatomical understanding.
